How to Extract a File from a Cabinet File
Make sure the TMP environment variable is set to the same path as your TEMP environment variable. Type “set” (without the quotation marks) at the MS-DOS command prompt to see the current environment settings. For example, if your TEMP variable is equal to C:, then type the following at the MS-DOS command prompt and press ENTER:
set tmp=c:
To display the contents of a cabinet (CAB) file without extracting the files, type the following and press ENTER:
extract /d a:.cab
To extract the file UTOPIA.DLL from U1.CAB to the C:directory, type the following and press ENTER:
extract a:.cab /l c:utopia.dll
To obtain more information about EXTRACT command line parameters, type the following and press ENTER:
extract /?
NOTE: EXTRACT.EXE is located on Disk 1 of the Microsoft Bob disks. When you install Bob, EXTRACT.EXE is copied to your MSBOBdirectory during Bob setup.
