It's okay in my books. I admit, the ad does achieve its goal: humanize Microsoft a little.

It gives nobody any information and probably cost them tons of money. Their shareholders should be outraged.

Making people like Bill Gates gives the company a better image. It doesn't necessarily have to defend itself against Apple advertisements to do that.

That's what all the Apple fanboys are saying. But they are failing to note that the objective of the ad is not to sell people Microsoft products, it's to get them to like Microsoft as a consumer brand.

I've heard good results from this advertising firm before, perhaps they can work a little bit of their magic with Microsoft.

I don't mind the ad at all. And in a way, it does rebut the "PCs not being fun" arguments that the current Apple ads tell you.
