The filters I have at school are probably the softest around. What's funny is that the URL "hotmail.com" used to redirect to "login.live.com/login.srf?id=2". The school blocks "hotmail.com" but not "login.live.com/login.srf?id=2". So you can still perfectly get on to Hotmail without it being blocked. I did this for a long time until I got caught. Then they assumed that I hacked into the filters and turned them off! Bull. Then I was banned for one term and two weeks while my friend, who had done the same thing, was only banned for 4 weeks! What's up with that? It's not my fault that their filters are faulty.

Haha, at college, loads of sites were blocked, as was Firefox. We used Mac machines, and we just hacked the Firefox binary to make the OS think it was Safari. Was so cool .
I remember ToastyTech got blocked at my old school, because I used to just sit and read the rants and tech support pages in IT classes.

Long days, and pleasant nights.
my 6th form college only bought a licensed filter for IE so when the design suit got a fleet of macs the filter did NOT work at all.
mdogg im sure you are fully aware that they can only plug the holes they are aware of. games were blocked at my school so i used to download the flash version embed it into a school web project and play it through the program rther than a browser. there will always be ways round the system

I-i-it's n-not as if I wanted to ban you or anything. B-baka. (「・ω・)「
at my highschool running dos programs were blocked, but I had ways getting around the security, it would always [censored] off the teacher as he was annoyed that he had to deploy some new security software after I got around it, but the new stuff was much harder to crack. It wasn't even some major brand name of security software either...
In conjunction with the Hotmail fiasco, I was also using Firefox at school which apparently makes the server unstable. Though I fail to see how this is so. Enlighten me with your facts if I'm wrong.

At my old school you used to have a very limited desktop with no Start button and virtually no icons except my work folder, the shared folder, Internet Explorer and Word, Excel and other programs like that. I got onto Solitaire and other restricted programs by using the Visual Basic bit of Microsoft Word. Worked a treat.
we have websense at my school. it sucks. in conjunction with lanschool, the network admin and the district tech director go on power trips. also, they have banned portable firefox, and do not allow it at all; nor do they allow mstsc.

my school trys to lock things down, epic fail, they lock up comand prompt, forget .bat files. blockers lock down websites, but forget to lock down ip addresses. the only odd thing is that you cant put anything on the desktop, nor change the background..
