Reasonable Contributions Rules

What are the reasonable contribution rules and why does BetaArchive have them?

The contribution rules are a set of rules designed to encourage you to participate in the forum, discourage spamming on the forum and discourage leeching from the FTP servers. When you use simple common sense these rules probably won't even affect you. Explained below is how to gain access to the two types of groups which allow access to protected areas of the website, which includes the FTP servers and the VIP group.

Advanced Members Group

Advanced Members Group (FTP Access)
Access to the FTP Servers and selected protected forums is gained by following these guidelines.

You must have the following:

10 posts
That comply to the guidelines below.

	These sorts of posts will add to your 10 access posts: # Topical discussion # Beta news # Technology news
	These sorts of posts will not add to your 10 access posts: # Single word posts - e.g "lol", "ok" # Posts containing only avatars # Posts that simply thanking someone - e.g. "thanks!" # Posts that simply agree with someone - e.g. "yeah!" # Useless or off-topic conversation # Advertising/promoting something non-beta related

Donations do not make you excempt from this rule.

Do not PM or message any Administrator/Moderator asking how many contributing posts you have made. You have to judge that for yourself. You will be ignored if you ask.

I think I have enough posts, how do I get access?
When you feel you have enough posts to gain access to the Advanced Members Group, you can click the join button below to be taken to the group join page. When you arrive at the group page, click the radio box for the Advanced Members Group, and then click submit. Thats it!

After submission, please wait for your application to be processed. Your application will be processed within 7 days by an Administrator. Be patient. If your application has not been processed after 7 days, please politely PM an Administrator or Moderator asking for it to be checked.

If your application is rejected, the reason will be stated in the PM you receive. It is advisable that you re-read the rules and review your posts if your application is rejected. And remember, just because you have ten posts, it does not mean that all of those posts are following the rules.

Access to the Advanced Members Group is restricted to three attempts. After this number of attempts has been reached, your username will be blacklisted and will not be allowed into the group at any time in the future.

VIP Group

VIP Group (VIP Forum Access)
Access to the VIP forum is gained by following these guidelines.

You must have one set of the following:

750+ forum posts

or

Advanced Members Group Access
and
$5 (£2.50) Donation

Once you have achieved one set of the above, you can request access to the VIP forum.

I have one of the above, how do I get access?
To gain your access, please PM 'Andy' on the forum with your request, and wait for a reply.

Moderators or other Administrators will NOT be able to perform this action.

Some Final Rules

Access to any group will be lost if any of the following conditions are met:

Advanced Members Group:
# Leaking or sharing of FTP login details with anyone.
# Excessive bandwidth usage.
# Constant server hammering despite warnings.

VIP Group:
# Talking about topics from the VIP forums.
# Spamming or discussing forbidden topics.
# Leaking or sharing of any VIP FTP servers.

All decisions are final and once you lose your access from any group, you will never be able to get it back.
